Sri Vivekananda Arts & Science College, Giddalur, Prakasam Dist., Andhra Pradesh, was established in 1973 as Govt. Aided College. The real founder of this college was late SRI. PIDATHALA RANGA REDDY, formerly finance minister, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The area of Giddalur was interior, mainly backward, Poverty-stricken downtrodden with low-living standard and with meager income, Sri P. Ranga Reddy aimed at to fulfill the minimum needs of the inherently powerful rural youth who were deprived of higher studies.

Courses in Arts, Commerce, Physical, Biological and Computer science with about 540 students on its register. It offers one P.G. course in Economics with about 60 students on its register. It also offers U.G. Courses B.A., B.Sc., & B.Com., through distance mode under Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad, with about 300 students intake.During the last 40 years of its existence, the college has served its best to the students and offered opportunities to the meritorious youth to shine and flourish. The college and its staff have mounted several academic landmarks in terms of academic excellenc and university results, which have been consistently higher than the university averages for several courses.

Late Sri.Pidathala Ranga Reddy was the first President and Correspondent of S.V.Arts & Science College from 1973 to 1990. Late Sri.P.Vijaya Kumar Reddy, Ex.M.L.A., was the President and Correspondent from 1990 to 2000. Smt.P.Sai Kalapana Reddy, Former M.L.A., is the President and Correspondent of the College since 2001 onwards.
S.V.Arts & Science College, Giddalur came under affiliation to Acharya Nagarjuna University since 1984. Dr.R.Poli Reddy is the Present principal of the college since 2011 onwards.
